The Current is a two phase mixed use project in Downtown Long Beach at the north-west corner of Ocean Boulevard and Shoreline Drive. The first phase consists of the first tower, standing at 17 stories tall and is nearing completion.
According to the official website for The Current, the expected completion date is the first quarter of 2016 and leasing at April, 2016. The first phase consists of a total of 223 residential units that includes studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedrooms, and Penthouse. The retail component consists of a total of 6,750 square feet.

The developer of The Current, formerly known as Shoreline Gateway, is Anderson Pacific, LLC. and the architect is BAR Architects. The developer's website provides a preview of the second phase of the project which is a taller 35 story tower. Rendering from Anderson Pacific, LLC's website shows what the 35 story tower might look like:

The site plan from BAR Architect's website shows the retail facing Ocean Boulevard, as well as, where the plaza is which is located in between the first and second phase towers. Additionally, a portion of Lime Avenue will also be closed off to make way for the plaza.

Notice prior to the project construction, Lime Avenue used to end at Ocean Boulevard as a T-intersection. Additionally, The Current is also located diagonally across from a historical high rise known as Villa Rivera which was built in 1929 (source).
