Located at 2640 N Lakewood Boulevard in Long Beach, the project site currently includes a thirteen-story Holiday Inn with 172 hotel rooms built in 1967, a two-story hotel with 50 hotel rooms built in 1978, conference space of 10,648 square-feet built in 1978, surface parking, and ancillary buildings for laundry facility, offices, and employee locker rooms. The planned hotel would replace the two-story hotel and the outdoor swimming pool with a six-story (73 feet tall) Staybridge Suites hotel consisting of a total of 125 hotel rooms. Additionally, the new project will bring new amenities for the new hotel including 2,498 square-feet for conference space, a fitness center. A new outdoor swimming pool will also be constructed which will be shared among the two hotels.
Site Demolition Plan:
Above: The circular shape is the existing Holiday Inn hotel which will not be altered. The bottom rectangular shape to the left of the Holiday Inn is the existing two-story hotel which will be replaced with the new hotel. In between the two-story hotel and Holiday Inn is the existing swimming pool which will be demolished and the new swimming pool will be built in between the existing one-story conference center and the future hotel.
At the very top of the site, there exists surface parking which will be replaced by a two-level vehicle parking structure. The table below shows the breakdown regarding parking requirements:
